Meet Tessa

An expert in Finance Team Development, Tessa spent over 14 years building a career in the industry before founding Chickp in 2019

Before setting up the business, she led a large team of finance professionals in a £600m turnover business, coaching them on vision, mission and values and helping them to create purpose in their work. She felt most rewarded by her role leading teams and promoting positivity, purpose and healthy mentalities to ensure they were capable of driving the company’s success and vision. Tessa’s industry experience is broad and includes agriculture, manufacturing, air travel, and financial services for both SMEs and multi-national organisations.

Tessa sites her greatest accomplishment as building a successful business having been discouraged from her early ambitions as a working-class female. Her advice to business owners? Engage with an entrepreneurial accountant IMMEDIATELY. They will be your voice of reason and logic, creating sustainable business models that take you in the right direction toward success.

Meet Kerry

Our go-to expert on Management Accounts and Training Manuals, Kerry has over a decade of experience in finance. She has worked for both large and small business across a mix of industries including gaming, pharmaceuticals, and solar energy. Her most enjoyable role so far was working within a solar energy business, because it was purpose-led and had a positive impact on the environment.

An avid foodie, Kerry also has a penchant for pop punk, spin classes, family time and running although she’s less keen on having to train to achieve running goals. Having said that, her greatest achievement was completing the Brighton Marathon.

Meet Megan

Keeping things firmly in the family, Megan is founder Tessa’s sister and juggles her role at Chickp. with being a mum to three children. As a working mum, she feels grateful for the opportunity to work within a flexible and supportive business that values her role as a mother as much as her role as finance assistant at Chickp.

After a diverse career in retail and many years fine tuning her customer service and communication skills, Megan spent two years in finance before joining Chickp. in 2019. Her advice to business owners – be honest and fair and pick the right customers for you. It’s not always about making money – your reputation will speak for itself.

Meet Richard

An ACCA qualified accountant and experienced Finance Team Transformer, Richard has 15 years post qualification experience in practice and industry. Before joining Chickp. he led a finance team at a telecommunications company where he designed, and project managed a cost-saving exercise resulting in over £4m of savings.

With specialist experience in delivering process improvements and efficiencies, his expertise has made him a valuable finance team transformer.

For Richard, a great finance leader needs to establish and maintain good relations with other departments. He believes that finance should be at the heart of a company and included in all aspects of decision making and feels that it’s the role of the finance team to make it easier for other departments to achieve their goals.
